Rest In Peace Mac Miller

This is is part of my live-learning series! I will be updating this post as I continue through my journey. I apologize for any grammatical errors or incoherent thoughts. This is a practice to help me share things that are valuable without falling apart from the pressure of perfection.

This was really devastating news. I’ve been a big fan for a long time. Mac was the same age as me and has been around for a long time. He was part of the soundtrack to the first years of university.

More than that, Mac Miller’s music resonated with me because he talked openly and transparently about his struggles with addiction and loneliness. His music got me through some difficult times. In particular, “Thoughts from a Balcony”.

But, I wanted to share one of his most recent pieces of work. Mac Miller started out as a popular frat rapper and transformed into a beautiful, experimental, and underappreciated artist.

Check out Mac Miller’s NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert. If you can make it through, listen to the last song “2009” off his latest album “Swimming”. It is a powerful moment where you know you’re listening to a true artist.

Rest in peace Mac. Many people will be listening to you for years to come.
